The Creeping Things

The Creeping Things

The Creeping Things is Lola de Witte-Still of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Berlin. Lola specialises in creating her own soundtracks for architectural essay films by built environment commentators such as Jonathan Meades, Ian Nairn and, especially, Nicholas Still. De Witte-Still (this may or may not be her real name, so any relation to Nicholas Still is impossible to verify at this point) makes her own (unsolicited) musical versions of YouTube uploads of their videos, not unlike the Simpsonwave video sub-genre, but with distorted analogue electronica and much more disturbing found vocals. “My dad was a Pevsner nut so we got dragged round Norman churches when I was a kid,” de Witte-Still explained to Syzer website, “so I was kind of affected by it all, and some types of architecture still trigger powerful memories for me. Memories that are not always pleasant.”
